Petersfield sits beneath the South Downs with Butser Hill to the south and the wooded hangers to the north. The villages around Steep, Sheet, Buriton and East Meon are exactly the kind of small, dispersed settlements where fixed-line broadband has never caught up.

Steep chalk scarp to the south, greensand and beech hangers to the north, with the Meon and Rother valleys between. It is one of the more three-dimensional parts of Hampshire, so dish positioning matters more here than on the open downs.
Brick and flint cottages, timber-framed farmhouses, larger country houses on the downs edge, and converted barns and stables in the villages.
The South Downs National Park covers much of the surrounding area, with grazing, small farms and equestrian holdings on the slopes and in the valleys.
Properties under the scarp are usually mounted facing away from the hill. Where hangers surround a property, a roof or pole position clears the canopy.
Rural businesses, equestrian yards and visitor enterprises within the National Park need connectivity that also respects landscape sensitivity.
