Newport is well connected in the city, but the countryside east towards the Levels and north towards Caerleon and Usk contains farms, cottages and businesses on much weaker lines. The Gwent Levels in particular are flat, dispersed and poorly served.

Flat reclaimed levels along the Severn estuary to the south, rising to wooded hills around Caerleon and Ponthir in the north. The Levels have exceptional open horizons; the northern hills bring valley-side considerations.
Terraced and suburban housing in the city, farmhouses and cottages on the Levels, and stone properties and converted barns in the northern villages.
Levels farms are spread widely across drained grazing land with long access lanes and few neighbours, which is precisely the pattern that leaves copper broadband unusable.
On the Levels, straightforward wall and barn mounts usually work well. In the northern valleys, higher positions or poles may be needed to clear wooded slopes.
Farms, rural workshops and business units around the Levels and Usk valley form the main commercial demand.
