Starlink WiFi Installation

Rural properties are hard on WiFi. Stone walls, staircases in the middle of the plan, outbuildings and annexes all defeat a single router.

Designing coverage around the building

We plan coverage around how the property is used: the home office, the kitchen, the annexe, the barn or the yard. Where possible we prefer wired backhaul to access points, because it keeps performance predictable in buildings where wireless links struggle.

  • Ceiling and wall-mounted access points
  • Ethernet backhaul and outdoor-rated links between buildings
  • Coverage for annexes, offices, stables and workshops
  • Post-installation coverage testing room by room

Common coverage problems

Thick stone and cob walls absorb 5GHz signal aggressively. Metal-clad agricultural buildings behave like a shield. Long, thin cottage floor plans put the far bedroom three walls away from the router. Each of these has a different fix, and adding a repeater in the wrong place usually makes matters worse.

WiFi Installation FAQs

Can you improve Starlink WiFi coverage?
Yes. In most properties the connection is fine and the coverage is the problem. Additional access points, wired backhaul or a mesh system typically resolve it.
Can you get WiFi to an outbuilding?
Usually, via buried Ethernet duct or an outdoor point-to-point wireless link, depending on distance and line of sight.
