Farnham sits on the Hampshire border where the greensand heaths begin, and the pine and birch woodland around Frensham, Tilford and Churt is the defining feature of installations here. Many properties in these hamlets have good plots, poor lines and a great deal of tall conifer.

Sandy heathland and mature Scots pine dominate to the south of the town, with the Wey valley running through. Pine grows tall and stays in leaf year-round, so unlike deciduous woodland it offers no seasonal relief in the sky view.
Georgian townhouses in Farnham itself, Arts and Crafts and tile-hung houses in the surrounding villages, plus barn conversions, smallholdings and equestrian properties on the heath.
The heathland villages are dispersed with large plots, and many properties sit at the end of private lanes shared with neighbours, which affects both cabling and access.
Pole and roof mounts are more common here than elsewhere in Surrey because of the conifer height. In some plots the best position is well away from the house, at the edge of a clearing.
Equestrian yards, nurseries and rural offices around Frensham and Tilford make up much of the commercial work, along with home-based professionals in the villages.
