Starlink Pole Installation

When trees, hills or the building itself block the sky, moving the dish away from the house onto a pole is frequently the only reliable answer.

Rural property in a valley where a pole-mounted dish is required

Getting above the obstruction

A pole lets us place the dish where the sky is clear rather than where the wall happens to be: on the far side of a courtyard, at the top of a bank, or clear of a shelter belt of trees. We size and set the pole for wind loading and specify the cable run and any required outdoor-rated routing.

  • Concreted ground poles and mast extensions
  • Mounts on outbuildings, barns and stables
  • Longer cable runs planned to preserve performance
  • Cable buried in duct or run overhead where appropriate

Practical considerations

Pole installations need more planning than wall mounts. Where the cable crosses a driveway or paddock we agree a route in advance, and where the dish sits a long way from the house we discuss whether power and networking are better handled at the pole end.

Pole Installation FAQs

How far from the house can the dish be?
Further than most people assume, but the cable length supplied with the kit is the first constraint. We discuss extension options and routing at survey stage.
Will a pole mount survive winter winds?
A correctly sized and correctly set pole will. Under-specified poles and shallow bases are the usual cause of movement.
